When is Outlander book 10 coming out?
While promoting Bees, Gabaldon told Town & Country that she’s already started writing the sequel. “On top of the pile would be the beginnings of book 10,” she said in December 2021. “I have started writing that, but I’m just poking away at it little by little, because there’s so much interference from the book launch stuff going on that I can’t work with my usual focus… I am working on book 10 though. It’s just beginning to bubble, like the tar pits at La Brea, these rising bubbles and there’s a lot of bones underneath.” Then on Jan. 2, 2022, Gabaldon rang in the new year by tweeting out an excerpt from Book 10! You can read it at the link below, and believe it or not, it’s about… ducks? Gabaldon did it again on Feb. 10, sharing yet another Book 10 excerpt. You won’t want to miss Gabaldon’s latest excerpt from Book 10, which she shared on Oct. 31, where William comes to ask Jamie to help him rescue Lord John from the clutches of Ezekiel Richardson, who is holding Lord John prisoner aboard a ship. Another father-son moment! The link is below.
What is the name of Outlander book 10?
Gabaldon has yet to reveal a name for the as-yet-untitled tenth book in her Outlander series.
Will Jamie die in Outlander book 10?
For many years, Gabaldon has said that she would wrap up the Jamie/Claire saga in book 10, but during an interview for the release of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, she backtracked a little and dropped this bombshell: “It depends on Jamie and Claire. If they’re not ready to die yet, I guess I will have to go on.” There has long been speculation that Jamie would die in book 10. As fans of both the books and the TV series will remember, there was a key moment—which appeared in both the first book and in the first episode of the Starz series—when Jamie’s ghost appeared in Inverness outside the inn where Claire and Frank Randall were staying at the end of World War II. Gabaldon has always made it clear that it is Jamie’s ghost, but what she hasn’t done is share the information as to what it really means—that is, until Sam Heughan was cast in the role of Jamie Fraser. He is the only one to whom she has revealed what that scene means; not even her husband or her agent knows!
How old will Jamie and Claire be in Outlander book 10?
As the series progresses, Jamie and Claire are aging appropriately, which should put them in their 60s in the tenth book. Even so, our time-traveling couple remain the emotional core of the story even as other characters who are in Jamie and Claire’s orbit are featured. Diana explained to Parade in an exclusive interview why it takes her so long to write the novels. “One reason it takes me so long to write these books is that I need to age along with them,” she explained. “I’ll be 70 in January, and I’m a different person than I was at 32 when I started writing Outlander. Your perceptions and experiences change and deepen as you get older. And when you’re telling the story of a long-term marriage, this makes a difference.”
Who will return in Outlander book 10?
Here are the characters that we can confirm as still alive: Jamie Fraser, Claire Randall Fraser, Briana Randall MacKenzie, Roger MacKenzie.
Does Diana Gabaldon know how Outlander will end?
She does and has known for 20 years, but of course, she’s not telling. “It was about 20 years ago that I saw the ending,” she’s previously explained. “I got up in the middle of the night and wrote it down with tears rolling down my face.”
Will there be more Outlander spinoff novels?
Yes! Gabaldon said she is working on a prequel novel about Jamie’s parents, and a book about Master Raymond, a time-traveler who Claire met in Paris in Dragonfly in Amber at the apothecary shop. Gabaldon told Town and Country that the story of Jamie’s parents, Brian and Ellen, “is actively talking to me. I’ve been carrying that one around in my head for quite a while, so I know quite a bit about it. And I’ve just started serious work on it, you might say. So, I have actual scenes, things like that.” The book on Master Raymond is on the back burner for now. In the meantime, Outlander Season 6 will premiere March 6, 2022 on STARZ.
