On Sept. 5, Crocs and Pixar tweeted the much-awaited news that Lightning McQueen special edition Crocs (based on the character voiced by Owen Wilson) would make a limited-run return on Sept. 8 at crocs.com. Let’s just say, people really want these shoes–and have for a while now, since the initial Cars x Crocs launch sold out in 2019–and they shared their excitement over the return with intensity on Twitter. One person replied to the announcement with only three words besides a lightning bolt emoji: “The king returns.” While another lamented the news’ popularity, “Pls stop tweeting keep this between us,” they jokingly replied. Many are already trying to figure out a way to snag a pair, one fan pleaded with Crocs to send them a pair for their upcoming birthday. “hi @Crocs for my birthday next week will you gift me a pair of lightning mcqueen crocs i am him [sic] number one fan,” they tweeted. The special Crocs might have even converted people who hate the footwear brand, as @ThatGirl_Lindz admitted, “I am a die hard croc hater, but ngl the Lightning McQueen crocs might be the game changer for me.” Many fans believe that bright red shoes are versatile and can be worn with anything. Some even plan to–if they can grab a pair when they drop on Thursday–wear them to graduation, or that’s at least what one person promised to do on Twitter before they amended their statement to say that they would wear them “every day of [their] life.” While the announcement made many Lightning McQueen and Cars fans very happy, some who like the other main character in the films, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), have admitted to feeling a little left out. Considering that tweets got Crocs’ attention and pushed them to make this re-release happen in the first place, Mater fans should band together and badger the company for a new design based on the fan-favorite tow truck. Some people have already started, like @michxlx, who tweeted: “Lightning McQueen Crocs but no Mater Crocs with a little Tow Belt???? I’m hurt beyond belief @Crocs.” Who knows? Maybe Crocs and Pixar can team up to bring shoe versions of the whole cartoon crew! More News:
