But on Sunday during the camera blocking, Hayely injured her shoulder to such an extent that it was impossible for her to dance through the pain. Derek posted the following on his Instagram: “We were doing a lift we’ve danced 100 times, but something weird happened causing Hayley to fall awkwardly and hard onto her shoulder. We tried running through the dance again, but quickly realized Hayley’s shoulder had been compromised. As a true dancer Hayley was ready to push through and perform. But sometimes, and definitely in this moment, we thought it best to dance another day. Next step is to get an MRI and see what the damage is. We are REALLY hoping 🙏🏼 it isn’t too serious. We’ll let you know when we do. Meanwhile, she will still be in the audience tomorrow cheering everyone on for the Finale! Much more to come as always. Love you all." Derek also posted a video with a little additional information, explaining that it was production that made the final call that Hayely need to look after her health and shouldn’t dance. Watch it below. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba commented on Derek’s post, agreeing with production’s decision to cancel their dance, writing, “Oh no…. So sad you two won’t be performing. 💔But @hayley.erbert you are smart to take care of your shoulder. Shoulder injuries are no joke. And you’ve got a wedding dance coming up soon so Please take care of yourself and heal well.” Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars will see Wayne Brady and Witney Carson, Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas, Shangela and Gleb Savchenko, and Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy.
