The trend, coined “getting Krissed,” refers to the action of being sent (or receiving) something on TikTok that is intentionally false or misleading for the sole purpose of fooling someone. Upon seeing the fake statement, the screen quickly cuts to an old sped-up video of Kris Jenner dancing to “Lady Marmalade” in a green sequin dress and bowtie with text reading along the lines of “Psych! You’ve just been #Krissed!” Kris’ part is a snippet from a from a holiday video shoot in 2012 that was uploaded to Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s joint YouTube account, which has a total viewing of over 4.8 million. TikTok users are having a ball with the prank, with one user even editing a sonogram photo into a screenshot of Zendaya’s Instagram profile, making it seem as if she posted it.

Per Know Your Meme, the original video that catapulted the trend to social media viral status was posted by TikToker @wandakardashian on June 8th, 2022. The video showed an image of Kim Kardashian with her children, captioned, “i cant believe pete did this to kim, she was so happy with him,” followed by a cut to Kris dancing, along with the text: “YOU JUST GOT KRISSED! SEND THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS TO TOTALLY #KRIS THEM! 🤣😝😁🤪” Attesting to the immense sharing power of social media, the video gained over five million views in just eight days.
